Labrador Retriever breed

Originating in Newfoundland during the 1700s, the Labrador Retriever was imported to England in the early 1800s. This breed is among the oldest of the modern recognized breeds. Their versatility and endless positive attributes have made the Labrador Retriever a popular family pet.

Lakeland Terrier breed

This friendly breed is very cheerful and affectionate, making him ideal for family life. Very alert, courageous, and somewhat independent, this breed however is not recommended for the average owner as he has the tendency to develop behavioral problems without experienced training.

Lhasa Apso breed

The Lhasa Apso originated in Tibet, and were only bred by holy men and nobles. Thought to bring good luck, this breed was considered to be sacred. For this reason, the Lhasa were used as watchdogs in monasteries for over 2000 years. They are highly intelligent, with keen instinct and acute hearing.

Lowchen breed

This breed is of European descent and originated in France during the 14th century. Known as the Little Lion, they were particularly favored by aristocracy. During the first half of the 20th century they nearly became extinct. However, Madame Bennert of Belgium is credited for saving this breed. The Lowchen has appeared twice in the Guiness Book of World Records: once as the most expensive dog in the world, and once as the rarest dog in the world.

Labradoodle breed

The Labradoodle was developed between a cross of the Standard Poodle, and the Yellow and/or Black Labradors. They were developed for companion purposes and to provide the best of both worlds as it is stated. This dog has become very popular in home life making a wonderful companion for many families. Proper research must be done when interested in a mixed breed as their origins and temperament may be unknown.
