M dog breeds



Maltese breed

The Maltese is considered to be the oldest of the European Toy breeds. Nobles, royals, and aristocracy favored them. They are very well mannered and affectionate. The Maltese displays a graceful and regal demeanor.

Manchester Terrier breed

The Manchester Terrier comes in two varieties: Standard and Toy. They were developed in England during the 19th century as vermin hunters. The Toy variety became popular during Queen Victorias reign. Today, the popularity of the Manchester Terrier has diminished although this breed makes a lovely companion and has retained their working capabilities

Mastiff breed

This ancient breed was primarily used as a guard dog. The Mastiff was favored by nobility as a hunting companion and revered by peasants as a family and livestock protector. They were also used as arena gladiators where they participated in bull, bear, and dog combat. The Mastiff was nearly extinct by the end of WWII, but was saved with imports from the United States and Canada.

Miniature Bull Terrier breed

The Bull Terrier is a cross between the Bulldog and the Old English Terrier with a bit of Spanish Pointer in his bloodline. This breed originated in 1830 to attack bull in this sport of combat. They were soon replaced in 1850 with the White Cavalier and have since been used for many different things. The Bull Terrier has been used as a guard dog, a ratter, a herder, and a watchdog and does extremely well in all. The Miniature Variety of the Bull Terrier comes from the same origins as the Standard, but developed to retain a more manageable size.

Miniature Pinscher breed

The Miniature Pinscher, also known as "The King of the Toys" is a feisty little breed with a sense of humor, terrific energy, and is very courageous. This breed is very eager to learn and experience new surroundings. However, if given the chance this energetic fellow will escape from confinement. Usually seen with a docked tail and erect ears, this breed will be sure to steal your heart.

Mini Schnauzer breed

The Miniature Schnauzer is a cross between the Standard Schnauzer, the Affenpinscher, and it is said the Poodle is a possibility. They were bred to retain the same look and characteristics of the Standard Schnauzer, but being of a more manageable size. This breed originated in Germany, named after the German word for muzzle, "schnauze." The Miniature Schnauzer does very well in killing rats which is what he was commonly used for, and does well in hunting, tracking, competitive obedience, and performing tricks which he is known for.

Miniature Australian Shepherd breed

Directly developed from the Australian Shepherd, the Miniature is a relatively new breed. Originating in the United States, the Miniature Australian Shepherd is rapidly becoming popular for their compact size and strong work ethic. They are extremely adept at herding, but are not yet recognized by the American Kennel Club.
